Cuba's Wilfredo Leon won the Best Server award at last year's FIVB World League, and will play for his country in this year's competition from June 4-July 25

Havana, Cuba, May 10, 2010 – Cuba included 16-year-old star Wilfredo Leon in their FIVB World League squad when it was announced last week, and the side, who finished fourth in last year’s competition, will be hoping the young player will continue his scintillating form throughout the tournament.

Leon, who was the best server and third top-scorer at last year’s competition, has already taken part in the NORCECA Boys’ Youth Continental Championship this year, and will be competing at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore from August 14-26 prior to the World League in a true test of stamina.

Cuba’s coach Orlando Samuels will also be looking towards captain Roberlandy Simon for inspiration as his squad aims for their first medal since 2005 in the tournament.

Cuba open their campaign at home against Argentina before facing off against Germany and Poland in Pool D.

The 21st edition of the FIVB World League takes place from June 4-July 25, with the final round taking place in Cordoba, Argentina.
