The Volleyball Network is a site run by 2008 Olympic Volleyball Gold Medalist Reid Priddy and former Olympian and current volleyball announcer Kevin Barnett. In the winter of 2009, they created the world’s first all-volleyball internet radio podcast. They have been dedicated to bringing listeners great stories and interviews from the volleyball world. Since the show’s inception, they have talked to the giants in the sport. Misty May, Karch Kiraly, Kerri Walsh, Doug Beal, and Hugh McCutcheon have all been on to talk about their careers and the state of volleyball.

During the summer of 2009, they welcomed internet-personality Dan Madden (of “Danny Kinda” fame) into the show as a producer and to bring some oddball perspective of the sport to the audience. In early 2010, AVP tour announcer Chris “Geeter” McGee joined the show as a colorful personality and historian of the game.

Reid Priddy

Reid is a two-time Olympic athlete and 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist.  He is a 10-year veteran of the US Men’s National Volleyball Team and plays professionally for Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in Russia’s Super League.  After taking some much needed time away from the hard court during the summer of 2009, Reid is ready for another push towards the 2012 Olympic Games in London.  Reid has always had a passion for beach volleyball throughout his career and wants to transition to the sand full-time following the London Games, with sights set towards Rio 2016. He and his wife Lindsay live in Huntington Beach.

Reid received his degree in Communications from Loyola Marymount University in 2000. Not knowing how or when his interest in multi-media production would intersect with Volleyball, he always believed there was an untapped potential between the two. He has been outspoken in highlighting volleyballs inability to speak the language of our time (“multimedia”) and is committed to being a part of the solution. The Volleyball Network is a strategic step in trying to get volleyball into the reach of those already playing the game on a regular basis. 

Kevin Barnett

Kevin is a two-time United States Olympian in Indoor Volleyball and founding partner in The Volleyball Network. During his nine years on the US National Team Kevin earned MVP honors twice and was selected to the Olympic roster in 2000 and 2004. Although he didn’t begin playing volleyball until the age of 18, Kevin was fortunate to learn the game from Hall of Fame coaches Marv Dunphy at Pepperdine University and Doug Beal.

In 2006, due to repeated knee injuries, Kevin retired from the National team and transitioned into the broadcast booth beginning with the 2007 World League and 2007 World Cup. Those opportunities lead to his selection by NBC to fill the analyst role for all Indoor volleyball during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He and partner Paul Sunderland called every match for the men’s and women’s Olympic teams including the Gold Medal Finals.

Now residing in Redondo Beach with his wife Arian and two sons Rees, age 7, and Max, age 5, Kevin remains involved in the volleyball community through coaching and broadcasting.

Chris “Geeter” McGee

Geeter has been the voice of the AVP pro beach volleyball tour for the past 12 years. In addition to his stadium-court prowess during the summer, he is a play-by-play commentator for FSN high school football and ESPN college basketball. He has also covered the Lakers, Dodgers, Angels, and Clippers as a sideline reporter for FSN. Geeter was beach volleyball’s MC during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, announcing the USA’s two gold medal matches.

He attended Cal State Northridge from 1990 to 1994 and was named team captain for his final two seasons. He was a setter for the team’s runner-up finish in 1993’s national championship match. Geeter is the co-director of Sports Shack Volleyball Club in Santa Monica and resides in Manhattan Beach with his wife Jessica and daughter Milly.
